Consultants to Mentor Foundation Phase Students Teachers studying towards B.Ed within the Thabo Mofutsanyane District Municipality

The mentoring programme will ensure that there is adequate support for student where mentors will:

  •  work with students and enhance their understanding curriculum content, their planning,  instruction and content knowledge 
  • Students to be able to apply theory into practical teaching,    
  • Measure student performance against UNISA targets   
  • Provide or refer students to relevant resources needed for their developmental needs,    
  • Advise and guide studying plans and address learner challenges and problems     
  • Enhance teaching skills and emotional well-being 
  • Prepare students for the teaching profession, improving learning capacity of students;    
  • Serve as a role model (using own experience to model the profession) and advocate for student needs

As a minimum you will need to have:  

  •  Bachelor's degree in a relevant education field;    
  • At least 8 years of experience of actively working in the South African Education Sector as a teacher or HOD including demonstrable mentoring experience;  
  • At least three years of professional experience in the teacher capacity building sector;  
  • Working knowledge of the policies and programmes addressing the education capacity building in South Africa;   
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, ability to inform and engage through written communication;   
  • Strong initiative and ability to multitask, anticipate and priorities without direct supervision; and   
  • Driver's license and own transport
