Look Who's Helping Save the Children

Our Artist Ambassadors are public figures who are leaders in their field - representing the fields of film, television, academia, art, music, politics, sports and beyond. They demonstrate leadership in their professions and serve as positive role models through their work. Over the years, our Ambassadors have played a critical role in raising awareness of the needs for children, and have continued to use their talent and voice to fundraise, advocate, and educate on behalf of children around the world.

Terry Pheto  | Save the Children South Africa

Terry Pheto

Terry Pheto was cast as the lead in the Oscar-winning movie Tsotsi and shot to fame as an African movie star, featuring in a number of films. She has also conquered the television world staring in both local and international series. Her international fame has not diminished her love and passion for her country.

She is one of Save the Children's first South African Ambassadors, and says “I hope that I become the voice of children and represent their rights in the most sincere and respectful way, and that we can work together in making sure that the children of South Africa have access to quality education, healthcare and that their dreams are fully supported."

Bo

Bo is the lead singer of the R&B group Denim and recently launched his solo career with his chart-topping debut single “Rise #togetherpeople”. Bo aims to inspire through his music, “I wanted to have something to say lyrically. Something that inspires people and that ultimately gives us all hope.” 

Bo is one of Save the Children's first South African Ambassadors and has an intense love for his country. Save the Children South Africa and Bo are working to ensure that every child gets the chance they deserve. To help achieve this goal he has agreed to donate part of the proceeds of his upcoming album to Save the Children South Africa. 

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid football star Cristiano Ronaldo kicked off 2013 as Save the Children's new Global Artist Ambassador. In his new role, Cristiano will fight child hunger and obesity, and promote physical activity and healthy eating. 

"When I learned that 1 in 7 kids around the world go to bed hungry each night, I jumped at the chance to get involved," said Cristiano Ronaldo. "It is an honor to join Save the Children. I want to work with them to make sure that fewer parents will have to struggle with putting the right kinds of food on the table."

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner, actor and mother of three, has been an advocate for Save the Children's early education programs. In places like Garner's home state of West Virginia, where generational poverty is a barrier to children's success, early childhood education is fundamental to breaking the cycle of poverty. 

"Advocating, to me, is one of the most important actions we can undertake," she said. Together, Save the Children and Jennifer Garner are working to ensure that every child in America has access to quality education from cradle to cap and gown.

Naomie Harris

Hollywood actress Naomie Harris has become an ambassador for women and children’s rights following a recent trip to South Africa as Save the Children claims increasing violence against women and children has been “normalised” in many societies. The actress, who plays Winnie Mandela in the new film of Nelson Mandela’s life, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom visited several Save the Children projects including a crèche and a scheme that empowers children against violence and exploitation in rural Free State.

Stylist, designer and mother, Rachel Zoe, joins Save the Children to raise awareness, mobilize funds and advocate for our humanitarian response work in the United States and around the globe. "Save the Children has been helping children in need for nearly a hundred years, and I am extremely honored to be involved in their ongoing efforts and their commitment to disaster relief." said Zoe.In her new role, Zoe will raise awareness, mobilize funds and advocate for Save the Children's humanitarian response work in the United States and around the globe.
